March 31, 2007 - Tony Burroughs visits Akron-Summit Public Library

Burroughs presentationAkron Library staff

Where to begin? When it comes to a Tony Burroughs presentation, it goes without saying that plenty of useful information will be communicated. And he obliged -- with four sessions covering: (1) basic steps that result in the most successful research; (2) researching cemeteries, funeral homes & vital records; (3) locating obituaries; and (4) researching obituaries. The audience was comprised of researchers of all levels, and there was something new to learn for each group. Burroughs also shared personal history, discussed common misconceptions, and was available afterwards to sign his book, “Black Roots: A Beginners Guide to Tracing the African American Family Tree”.
