September 26, 2009 – Digitalizing and Storage of Documents
What digital options are available for storing research data…photographs…voice recordings? How should computer files be organized? What’s the best way to back up information? These questions, and others, were tackled by computer specialist and AAGS member David Simpson at the September general meeting. He shared the ins and outs of electronic equipment and applications, with step-by-step demos. He fielded inquiries from “tech comfortable” researchers, along with those in the “pencil/paper” category. After the advantages and disadvantages of technology were addressed, “old school” and “new school” researchers agreed that technology does not eliminate all paperwork; but significantly enhances the research experience.
