August 7-10, 2006 - Washington, D.C. Research Trip a Success
Researchers left for the research outing full of optimism - and returned full of satisfaction -armed with information discovered in D.C. For example: Carmine Stewart searched records at the National Archives & Records Administration and the DAR Library, and walked away with excellent support documents and additional leads. Pat Southern discovered a document that included the “changed” name of her great, great grandfather. Delores Jones visited the Library of Congress and DAR Library. One of her “finds” was an out-of-print book, “Extended Family of Blacks” of Holmes County, MS. And Pat McGowan was able to use pension records to validate a divorce through affidavits.

On another Washington D.C. excursion (Sept. 8-9 NARA symposium),
members found names on the Monument for Colored Troops to add to their family history.
