May 28-31, 2003
The NGS (National Genealogical Society) celebrated its 100th anniversary in Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania May 28-31, 2003. Delegates from across the country attended the conference,
including AAGS-Cleveland President, Carrie Stokes. AAGS members Deborah Abbott and
Casandra Brown also attended the conference, which was packed with knowledgeable speakers
and informative programs. Hosted by the Western Pennsylvania Genealogical Society, attendees
had a smorgasbord from which to choose: 70+ presenters, multiple workshops, and a variety of
exhibits, lectures, luncheons and evening activities.
In addition, we had the opportunity to network with other genealogical groups, including the Afro-
American Historical and Genealogical Society, Atlanta Metro Chapter. (The photo on the left

A few words of wisdom from speakers:
- Write something every day about your life or someone else.
- Don't hold onto your information for too long. It's not necessary to write a book. Share early on, especially with those who contributed to your findings. They will be content."
